Part-time Intensive English Program

Come Learn English with us . . . . part-time!

Our part-time program lets you study with us in the evenings. This is a non-visa granting program open to anyone. You can sign up for our Listening and Speaking course ($500), our Reading and Writing Course ($500), or both ($950)!

Here's what you get when you enroll in our classes:

  • Reading and Writing Classes Monday-Thursday 5:00pm - 5:50pm.
  • Listening and Speaking Classes Monday-Thursday 6:00pm - 6:50pm.
  • Proficiency Test for BYU admission
  • 13.5 weeks of class (40 - 80 hours of class)
  • Weekly feedback
  • Certificate of Completion
  • Certified Proficiency Certificate

Semester Information

Below are the upcoming semesters. The Fall semester begins on September 8 and ends on December 11th. The Application deadline is August 14th.

Tuition Payment Deadline

Tuition payment is due before the first day of class. Fall 2025 tuition is due September 7, 2025.

Ecclesiastical Endorsement

Every applicant must have an Ecclesiastical (religious) Endorsement, which requires two separate interviews. Endorsement interviews are requested online at: endorse.byu.edu.

If you are a member of the LDS Church, you need to be interviewed by your bishop and stake president through the BYU endorsement system.

If you are a not a LDS Church member, you can choose to have your first interview with either your own church leader or with a LDS bishop in your area. Your second interview will need to be conducted by the BYU Chaplain who will contact you once the first interview has been received by BYU. More instructions about how to request the interview are listed below.

Starting your Application

In order to apply to learn English at the ELC, students must first get a NET ID.
A Net ID is a user name that you will use to access web resources. Please create a Net ID before proceeding. After obtaining your Net ID, please return to this page.

  • Students in the part-time program are considered BYU students and must agree to live the Honor Code.

  • No. Tuition is due before the start of the first day of class.

  • No. We do not provide visas for part-time students.

  • All students need to apply directly to BYU or Ensign college. Current students in the part-time program may use their test scores for their application. Test scores are only valid while you are a student in the program.

  • Yes. Once the tuition charge is added to your account, you can authorize others to have access to your financial payments. They can go online and pay in your behalf.

  • Yes.

  • Not yet. However, our classes will help you improve your English Skills which will help you do better on the TOEFL test.
