Friday Test Instructions for Teachers

Students are expected to come to the ELC when teachers or the ELC administration schedule tests on Fridays. We encourage all teachers to reserve the lab on Fridays for any assessment that is over 30 minutes long. Please follow these instructions if you choose to schedule a Friday test.

  1. By WEDNESDAY before your Friday test, you must:
    • Fill out the ELC Friday Test Reservation form.
    • If you do not complete the reservation by 11:59 pm on Wednesday, we will not administer your test and you will need to schedule it for another week or do it online.
  2. When creating your test on Canvas:

      • Include a passcode so that the students have to be present in the computer lab to take the test.

      • Include a time limit so students don't spend too long on the test.
      • Set the test to close at 5:00 pm so that the test ends when the computer lab closes.
      • I highly recommend giving a learning experience grade to go along with your test so that students take the test on the day and in the location that they are supposed to.
    • In your class, before the Friday test:
      • Review the Friday Testing Rules with your students.
    • After the test is administered on Friday:
      • You will receive an email with a scanned copy of your class list showing which students from your class came to the testing center for the test and if any issues came up with any of your students.
        • If a student took the test but they are not checked off on the class list, it means they took the test at home instead of in a proctored environment, which counts as cheating. If a student has cheated, notify Mrs. Sandy and give the student a 0 on the assessment.
    • Scheduling a make-up test:
      • If a student misses a test, there are a couple of options for a make-up test.
        • Any day other than Friday, you can administer it yourself in a proctored environment similar to the original setting it was administered in.
          • If you want to use the computer lab to administer the test, that's okay, but you must be there to proctor it. Outside of Fridays, the lab is not a proctored environment (the lab attendants are monitoring screens, other students are there for other purposes, phones are not turned off, etc). Teachers need to be there to monitor their students during their test.
        • You can schedule the lab for a make-up test on another Friday. Go to the ELC Friday Test Reservation form and mark that it is a make-up test. Then, in addition to the test information, list the name(s) of the student(s) who will be coming to take it.
