Community Outreach English: Our Mission
The Community Outreach English (CORE) program supports BYU’s Department of
Linguistics by facilitating the teaching, learning, and research of English as a second language
in a non-IEP context.
CORE’s mission is threefold:
- Provide BYU student teachers with opportunities to apply university study in practical contexts and to develop excellence in English language teaching, curriculum design, materials development, technology use, assessment, and evaluation.
- Provide BYU students with opportunities to acquire mentoring and administrative experiences.
- Provide the community with high-quality English teaching necessary to help students meet the basic demands of English use in everyday life.
